SHADOW BOXING THE APOCALYPSE | 22X28 ORIGINAL ACRYLIC PAINTING ON CANVAS | Item number 20-23P
SHADOW BOXING THE APOCALYPSE | 22X28 | ORIGINAL PAINTING ON CANVAS | Item number 20-23P
The term shadow boxing comes from the sport of boxing. It refers to a particular exercise where you throw punches at nothing in particular in order to prepare for a fight. In the height of the first Covid pandemic lockdown I spent a lot of time arming myself to fight an invisible opponent, often feeling like the punches I was throwing weren't landing. This skeleton looks ahead with determination beyond an apocalyptic setting.
This painting is about everything that we are, and everything that we will ever be. Not dead, just really really naked. Vulnerable, and yet full of hope.
This is a Sarah Jaynes original acrylic and spray paint on gallery depth canvas. The painting is 22x28x1.5 inches. Sides are raw canvas and may contain traces of the painting process. Painting comes ready to hang and is signed on the back by Sarah.
